Mind Over Muscle – Think Like a Man
Because of fame and fortune some athletes have lost their way. As a result, they are making local, national, and even international news headlines for battering wives, girlfriends or women in general.
So, I pose this question. What are men gaining from hitting a woman? Are some men that desperate for personal retaliation? Is it that hard walking away from a woman mouthing off? Physically you already have the woman beat. What is the satisfaction in starting a fight that you’ve already won? Given the physical advantage, a man should refrain from battering a woman. The person that’s being abused is someone’s mother, sister or daughter. How would you feel if one of those women were related to you?
In my book “Against All Odds – 4th Down and Forever”, I’ve given my reader some insight on how my mother made my six brothers treat women. That excerpt was “Thou shall not abuse women”: My parents did not condone their sons mentally or physically abusing their daughters or someone else’s daughter. It did not matter if our sisters initiated the confrontation or not, we boys had to grin and bear it or face serious consequences. We were taught to open doors for them, carry heavy items, give them our seats, and treat them with respect and dignity at all times.
Remember – Strength doesn’t come from the things that we can do, it comes from overcoming the things that we once thought we couldn’t do.
Maya Angelou once said, “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”
Before you hit a woman next time, think like a man!
