A Fallen Icon

On Sunday, August 9, 2015, I among many others mourned the loss of Frank Gifford, an All – American football player out of the University of Southern California, a New York Giant and television personality. Gifford, a receiver and running back, was initially scrutinized by his New York Giant teammates because of his roles in Hollywood movies before signing a contract with the Giants. However, his skills, hard work, and humility won his teammates over. Gifford played running back, wide receiver, and defensive back. His commitment to the team and winning earned him a place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Gifford played her entire career with the Giants from 1952 – 1964.

After retiring from playing football, he moved into the broadcast booth where he was a natural making play-by-play calls. Although Frank Gifford was 21 years older than me, I enjoyed watching the National Football League (NFL) films. He left everything that he had to offer on the football field. Throughout his career on and off the field, most of the things that I heard about him was positive.

We will always miss those ageless looks and that Golden Voice. Rest in peace # 16. You lived a long productive life. Unfortunately, life is not forever. Forever is how you lived it.
